Safety measures

Boating is a nice and healthy pastime. It keeps the body fit, and is mostly done as recreational activity. But that doesn’t ensure safety of the people who do it on a regular basis. It is imperative that there be the sufficient safety gear on board and necessary precautionary steps are taken.
The first, obviously, is the presence of floatation devices in case of an accident. They include life jackets and throwable devices. Over and above this, the boat must have, by law, distress signals, navigation lights, fire extinguishing devices, attention seeking horns and bells etc. the laws also require that there should be a copy of the Inland Rules of the Road onboard, at all times.
