Boating is regarded as one of the most exciting water sports on earth. It is done is several water streams. The water bodies which are selected for boating purpose includes downstream, middle stream rivers, lakes, ponds, river and other water bodies. Other than sport boating is also done for recreation purposes. Various amusement parks have the boating facility in man made artificial water bodies. The person who is enjoying the sport must know swimming. Sometimes accidents occur and the boat seems to drown. In that case people must to know how to swim to save their respective lives. Before entering the boating, swimming training must be done. This reduces the life risk the person enjoying the boating sport.

Boat sales increase by 15%

Brunswick Corporation reported an increase in the sale of its boats by 10% from the last financial year, and this was preceded with an increase in the overall sale of boats by around 15% globally. In terms of net sales and net earnings, Brunswick Corporation recorded an increase in its earnings by $ 55.6 million as well and that was only in the second quarter of the past financial year. The major reason for this is that people are willing to pay good money to get their hands on decent luxury boats because the experience of boating is different to all others and it is more or less a grand past time.

White-water Rafting

White-water rafting is definitely not a sport for the faint hearted. White water is a term for the swift flowing mountain rivers. The rivers move so swiftly that they form white foam and hence the name white-water. The rafts are made of rubber and are then inflated. White water rafting is a very popular sport in the mountain camps. Before taking on the sport one should be aware of the dangers and should always be wearing proper rafting gear including life jackets and helmets. A raft can accommodate around 4-8 rafters depending on the size of the raft and all the rafters must paddle in synchronization to propel the raft and guide it trough the fast flowing water.

Steps taken to Prevent Boating Accidents

In the light of the many boating accidents in the recent months, the government of the country has decided to come down hard on boaters who flout the rules of boating and cause accidents and damage to property as well as other boaters. The drinking of liquor was strictly banned on the lakes for a long time but people decided to ignore it till now. But with the new laws, anyone found drinking or doping on their boats while on the lake, they will be fined £ 2,500 on the spot, failing to give which, one will be taken into police custody and a case will be started against him. Various other stringent steps have been taken in the recent months to stop unnecessary accidents and harm to the people.

White Water Rafting

White water rafting or simply rafting is a very challenging, thrilling and exciting outdoor activity where an inflatable boat is used to navigate the course of a river or any other water body. It gained popularity since the 1970s and is considered to be an extreme sport for it can prove to be dangerous. There are six grades of difficulty in white water rafting, depending upon the navigability of the river, ranging from easy to difficult to very difficult. The ones that are most difficult to navigate have several waterfalls and rapids on the course and crossing them safely is a matter of great luck or extreme skill and experience.

One of the most important things to learn while boating is how to anchor. At some point of time you may want to anchor to eat, swim, fish etc. In that case these tips will come in handy. First choose the right anchor, the most common of which are the fluke, plow and mushroom. While selecting an area to anchor it is important to pick one which offers shelter from wind. It is important to determine depth and bottom, in order to decipher how much rode you will require. Finally keep in mind never to anchor from the stern alone as it may cause the boat to capsize or swamp.

The Boat Race

It is a boating tradition which was started way back in 1829 by Charles Merivale, a student of St. John’s College, Cambridge and his dear friend studying at Oxford, Charles Wordsworth. According to the story, Cambridge challenged Oxford to a boat race on the Thames, England and the tradition carried on every since. It usually takes place in the last Saturday of March or the first Saturday of April of every year. The race is a joint understanding by the boating clubs of both the universities. This year, it was held on 26th March. Millions of people watched in from the river banks of the Thames and on television.
